The school places great emphasis on the achievement of the objectives of Basic School Education stated in the National Policy on education.
Integrated curriculum is applied in this section; Nigerian, British and Canadian methods with Montessori system of education as it lays a solid foundation for children age 0-5years.
The learning approach is child centred; learners are given opportunity to explore their environment. They develop and refine their abilities to think critically and collaboratively, precisely the abilities most needed to achieve success and satisfaction in the 21st century.
As a school, we have extended the Kindergarten approach to learning by introduction of play, to enable children to imagine and create interactive inventions. The process of play and the skills children practice while playing are extremely important. In addition, when children learn early that learning is fun, they carry this enjoyment through their academic journey. Each day begins with a circle time to prepare children for exciting activities for the day.
Our care givers/ Educators know each child and currently assess needs, ability, interest and learning styles in order to provide optimum learning environment. The child learns to become an effective learner as he/she develops and extend his/her communication skills and build his/herself confidence.
The early years is divided into four levels
Level 1: Crèche (3months-1 year)
Pre- School ( 2 years)
Level 2: Pre Kindergarten (3 Years)
Level 3: Lower Kindergarten (4 years)
Level 4: Upper Kindergarten (5 Years)
The educators help the child to develop emergent reading and Math skills including fine motor skills, perpetual motor skills and cognitive learning skills using the following standards:
Books are kept in school in lockers and bookshelves for the children and Home Fun is given to them daily except during exam time.
A communication book is provided for each child to keep parents abreast of their child’s progress. The homelike quality of our school contributes to a relaxed, focused experience for the child. Our indoor classroom activities are placed on open shelves for selection as interest and readiness inspires the child. Our outdoor environment offers a beautiful developed playground with manipulatives, tricycles and gardens.
The child has one intuitive aim: self-development. He/She desperately wants to develop his/her resources, his/her ability to cope with a strange, complex world. He/She wants to do and see and learn for himself/herself through his/her senses and not through the eyes of an adult. He/she becomes a full person. He/she is educated.
